The GRASP Secretariat, together with the local organizing committee consisting of Kenya-based conservation organizations, is hosting the 27th Congress of the International Primatological Society (IPS) on 19-25 August 2018 at the UN Compound in Nairobi. The core mandate of IPS is to encourage scientific research involving non-human primates, to facilitate cooperation among scientists, and to promote the conservation of all primate species.
The IPS Congress is a biennial event that brings together the top conservationists, researchers and funders in the field of primatology for a week of symposia and presentations. GRASP successfully bid to host this year’s Congress under the theme of “Global Connectivity to Ensure the Future of Primates”. It will be only the second Congress to be held in Africa since 1998, with expected 800 participants from all over the world.
